What information do we collect?

To get started, Selcom Pesa requires you to complete registration by providing valid mobile number, national ID and biometrics including the face data (selfie image) and fingerprints.

Face data is collected by guiding the user through specific actions: turning their head to the right, turning it to the left, smiling, and blinking. In the final step, a selfie is captured and compared to the user's NIDA image to verify facial similarity. Upon successful matching, the user is granted permission to proceed.

Fingerprints data is captured by guiding the user through specific actions: select the preferred handto scan either right or left hand, and for those with less than five fingers can opt to scan fewer fingers. User directs the camera towards the fingers until the fingerprints data is captured and compared to the user's NIDA image to verify facial similarity. Upon successful matching, the user is granted permission to proceed.

Other Information collected from the application include names and contact data, credentials used for authentication and account access and transaction data.

How is the collected information used?

We may use the information we obtain through the application to

  • Biometrics data: the face data and fingerprints collected during the liveliness check process is used solely for similarity comparison with the user's National Identification Authority (NIDA) data to verify identity.

  • Enhance our product and service offering: your information enables us to offer better services to you.

  • Personalization: your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs and experience as our valued customer.

  • Improve customer service: your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs.

  • Improve our app: your information and the feedback you provide helps us to improve our app.

  • To send periodic emails: the email address and mobile number you provide may be used to send you information and updates such as account statements and others related to your profile/account.

How do we protect your information?

We aim to protect your information through a system of organizational and technical security measures. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process.

Biometrics data such as face data and fingerprints is not stored or shared with third parties and is discarded immediately after the verification process is completed.
